My God, that is one awful dress. Back on topic, if the article from the Blackpool Gazette is right and they did film an hour long TG special, it means James wasn't ill but was late and lost. (They wouldn't have filmed it without him.) Which makes it extra sad for all the boardies who went over to see him, but better news for the man himself. ;D

Here's my report. arrived at the Hilton at 5.20pm. In the bar for 5.30pm. Caught a tram down to the car park which was fairly busy but the band (whoever they were) was rubbish so we went for a walk and found a dive bar and had a drink. The best I can describe it is you stuck to the floor, stuck to the chairs and stuck to the tables. Plus all drinks were served in plastic glasses Found another bar which was relatively un-sticky compared to the first, and watched members of a hen party in various stages of inebriation (it was 7.30pm) throwing themselves around a dance floor and trying to convince the motley selection of old pervs ogling gentlemen watching that they had really intended to lurch sideways and cannon into their mates Two G & Ts and a couple of shots later and we headed back to the car park which was by now packed to the rafters. We found a spot where we could see one of the big screens and in order to make watching the rubbish bands a bit more bearable, bro-in-law went into an adjacent offie and bought 4 cans of beer. As we enjoyed our little drinkie, we were tapped on the shoulder by a plastic policewoman Community Police Officer who informed us we were committing the second, most serious crime after murder by drinking in the street (The party consisted of 4 people with an average of 50 and the rozzer had walked past huge groups of 'young people' consuming the demon drink but obviously decided they might give her a hard time so we got nicked). We had to hand over our budweiser immediately. By this time, the 'lluminations were on so we set off to find a restaurant but on the way, bumped into two proper rozzers and told them where to find two CSOs 'drinking on duty' ;D Had a lovely meal (and wine....and beer) at some Italian restaurant, walked back to the hotel along the front to see the lights and ended up in the bar until 2am. Went down for breakfast this morning and you will never guess who was sat at the table next to ours (calm down ) - Debbie "Tell me, why DID you marry the millionaire, Paul Daniels?" McGee and said millionaire plus two friends. When they had finished, Mr Daniels came and stood at our table and told us that he and his friends 'had put the world to rights and solved the country's money problems'. He seemed quite full of himself and I got the impression he quite enjoyed being 'famous' Debbie, by the way, looked very natural, very petite (she's tiny) and very pretty. To end our little trip, as we pulled off the M6 at junction 35, there were people and cars parked on the motorway bridge, obviously waiting for someone/thing to come down the road. We pulled up and discovered that as a tribute to Colin McRae, a large number of Subarus were driving down to Banbury (I think) where Prodrive is based, to have a meet up and celebrate his life. Well, we couldn't miss that so we sat and waited. sure enough, a large number of Subarus passed by, driving in convoy, lights on, drivers and passengers waving, sounding their horns and revving their engines very loudly. I'll put some (poor) photos up later. It was very touching and I thought, a lovely way to honour a great man. A lovely end to a fab trip out. As for James, I didn't miss him, The Stig was awesome and Jezzer looked rather tasty ;D

Did anyone collapse from heartbreak when James didn't appear? ;D Not that I saw but the St Johns Ambulance people were in attendance just in case The Colin McRae thing was fab. I wanted to jump in the truck and head south with them but the doggies would never have forgiven me I was supposed to be going to a Western Riding Event in Northallerton tomorrow to support a friend who's competing (I've done the Western Riding thing too years ago) but I think I will have a lie-in. A 2am finish last night has left me rather kn*ckered

I did Ly... like all others, James' 'no-show' had me a little baffled, especially as he had been name-checked all night, right up to the switch-on, but glad to hear he's fine 'n' dandy... I'll tell ya what, there were more banners there for our lads than anyone, despite the girly screaming for Boyzone (yeuk) ;D
