lots of talk about rain tomorrow! That will liven things up a bit! Not sure about Lewis having something up his sleeve tomorrow - I dont think he plays like that! 100% all the way!
Vettel, Webber, Button tomorrow! (I am going to regret this comment!)

I think he's maturing and thinking of the long game (plus he's had a few days with the lovely Nicole ) Whatever happens tomorrow I can't wait How are we going to cope without the F1 until next March?

What a time for a Red Bull to be unreliable! Who would have predicted a gearbox problem!!!
Close though! I am pleased with the result and the (considered) prediction!

Now I know I'm bringing this thread back from the dead, but what in the name of all that's holy was going on in Malaysia today?!
Nobody likes team orders. Team orders are rubbish, but F1 is a team sport, and Seb's behaviour wasn't that of a team player. It's hard to be too critical, because it WAS the behaviour of a racing driver, which kind of demonstrates the inherent problem with something that has both individual and team championships. I did feel for Mark Webber though (but apparently dinner with Jenson put the smile back on his face), who has doubtless obeyed numerous orders to hold position, judging by his remarks about Seb. And I felt for Lewis, who needed that podium in a way to silence the doubters, but because he knew he didn't get it on merit, but because Nico was held back.
So the entire podium was influenced one way or another by team orders. Not sure that's what I want to see this early in the season, or indeed at all.
But I want to see Jenson's wheels dropping off even less. What the hell is wrong with McLaren? Beginning to think that Martin Whitmarsh should throw himself at the feet of Ron Dennis and beg him to come back...

I was totally bemused too Wy. Is F1 a team sport, or is it not??? That's the critical question isn't it. I wish it wasn't. I wish they would all go hell for leather all the time. I really felt for Webber, esp. as I was desperate for an Aussie win, but the passing moves were breathtaking. Post-race was very, er, awkward to say the least! I just wish the team orders could be ditched permanently. Not gonna happen though.

I also wish team orders could be ditched forever. They're racing drivers, so surely they should be allowed and trusted to race each other!
To quote the late, great Ayrton Senna: "If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver." 'Nuff said!

As we all know McLaren are particularly serious about giving their sponsors value for money (one of the things Lewis Hamilton was apparently trying to get away from with his move to Mercedes was the relentless sponsorship work), but when I realised Gillette were one of the sponsors, I realised what was coming. And it happened. Jenson Button has shaved off his beard. I really hope it's not like a Samson thing, and that without his beard, his cool, calm driving style will vanish. He's always had a fuzzy face and a smooth style... really hope it doesn't end up the other way around! A moment of silence for JB's face fungus - sacrificed in the name of sponsorship. Attachments:

I think this is the best place for this. The US-based women-and-motorsport brand Steel Ovary Nation (http://steelovarynation.com/) is revamping and expanding, ready for a January relaunch. And guess who's going to be their F1 correspondent? Bit nervous, but once I fire off a quick retrospective on the late Maria de Villota, I have a bit of time to plan the monthly articles I shall be writing next year. Onwards and upwards!

Thank you ladies Thinking I might contact the FIA Women in Motorsport Commission and do a piece on their work as a body at some point during the off-season. Mind you, before then, there are driver moves and all sorts to sort out. Looks like Massa to Williams though, which will make me happy.

Good article there Wyvern!
Loads of seats to be sorted and with only a couple of races left! A couple of big moves and the merry-go-round will leap into action!

Thank you Sir Flat!
There's an awful lot to get sorted in the world of F1 this time around - mind you, I'm not surprised, because the summer 'silly season' was pretty quiet. I can't remember the last time there was this much uncertainty this late in the season. There are always some changes at this point, but we've usually got a bit more of an idea than this.
And in related news, Williams' test driver Susie Wolff is going to be the first ever female driver to take part in the Race of Champions this year (kind of funny it's taken so long, given that one of the people who got the event going is the former rally driver Michele Mouton). She'll be representing the UK with David Coulthard - so it's pretty much Team Scotland!

oooh! That should be interesting! We can see her head-to-head with the best in the world to see how good she really is! She didn't set the DTM on fire with her performances!

oooh! That should be interesting! We can see her head-to-head with the best in the world to see how good she really is! She didn't set the DTM on fire with her performances! Neither did DC, in all fairness... but yes, it's a good point(though she did last six years, so she must have had some talent). They both drove for the same team, funnily enough, though in different spec cars. In other news, I see I was right about Felipe Massa. Once it leaked our that Rob Smedley was off to Williams, it was only a matter of time... And what do we think of the changes at McLaren? I can't say Perez getting the order of the Spanish archer would be entirely surprising. He's not without talent, but he drives like a tw*t sometimes, and an unrepentant one at that.

My brother is a NASCAR fan and informed me he was going to a race in Austin, the new F1 course. I'm very jealous. We can usually stream on line. I'm with my Aunt and she doesn't like car races, etc. She doesn't see that women love fast cars and can't understand why I like Top Gear. Any favorites?

CNBC is showing qualifying right now, and NBC is broadcasting the race tomorrow at 2 pm EST (prerace show at 1 pm). Too bad Kimi is not there. He's apparently recovering well from his back surgery earlier this week.
ETA: Another pole for Vettel.
