An old Fiesta with the heart of a Ferrari. If I could I'd like an Alfa Romeo Mito but I need a double garage as I have to keep the Fiesta. Moving this to cars section by the way.

Welcome, Haddow. For the last five years, both of the cars I've owned were Vauxhall Vectras. I had to junk the first one (96 with a sunroof), because there was a hole in the transmission, the brakes were shot, and the computer kept malfunctioning. My husband passed down his 99 model to me and I've loved it ever since. He's got a Renault Laguna, but isn't happy with the automatic transmission, so he drives mine sometimes, which is standard, because he misses it. I don't mind, but I get on him about remembering to change gears, since I'll hear the engine whinging because he's so used to an automatic now. I'll post a pic of my current car momentarily, if I can find one. However, there is a snow-covered pic of it in the Feb morning/evening thread. Edit - No, this is the only one I have available of it right now.

I can only afford to run one car so it has to be able to do everything. Therefore I have a Mondeo diesel estate. The only thing it won't do is fit into short parking spaces!
When I win the lottery, I'll have a Citroen C15 van done up to look like Thunderbird 4.

Hi haddow. Welcome to the board Thanks for the offer of a swap but I'll stick with what I've got It IS a diesel (2.5TDCI) and I'm not sure of the insurance group but it was more expensive than the Focus but not stupidly so. However, on the plus side, the road tax is only £120 a year ;D ;D Lovely to drive and all mod cons as standard. I love it to bits

I currently have a Subaru Forester. Useful yes, exciting hardly. I miss my old car sometimes - Chrysler Sebring convertible - but being American, it fell apart on me at the end.

As indicated by my username, I drive a Jaguar XJS. Not one of the older classics, I'm afraid. I couldn't afford to run one of those. If I'm honest, I can only just afford the one I've got, which is one of the later 'facelift' models. It dates from 1993, when Jaguar was owned by Ford. I know it's just a metal box with four wheels and an engine, but it's my baby, and I love it!

I am looking at getting a Merc C-Class or Volkswagen Eos (I got sucked in by the add then fell in lust at a motorshow) - I reallywant a Merc SLK and can get a used one quite reasonably priced but I think I want a newer car and the first two can be bought new "cheaper" hmmmmmmmmmmm

I've had some very very cool cars in my time but am currently going through a Sensible Phase (ie garage waiting to be built) in a Merc A-Class.

i think my sensible phase or as close to it as possible was a capri with 2.9 cosworth engine and mk2 escort superlite wheels and a limited slip diff, cornering in the wet at roundabouts was never so much fun before! hahahaha

LOL!! You should try going round wet roundabouts in a car like mine! Just before Christmas 2007, I managed to spin my car while negotiating just such a roundabout on the A1, which I suspect was a bit icy as well. Instead of taking the intended direction (ie. the second exit) in the proper manner, it skidded, fishtailed, and ended up broadside to the oncoming traffic behind me! Luckily, because it was just after a roundabout, said traffic was travelling sufficiently slowly to avoid colliding with me, and I was able to get going again without further incident. It was a bit of a hairy moment, though! Oh, the joys of rear wheel drive.

Well, you'll have to find yourself another Jag, because there's no way you're driving mine like that! I didn't intend to do so myself, and I have no desire to repeat it! ;D Great clip, though.

I drive a little Ford Ka. Not the most exciting of cars, but I love it. It's perky and revvy, the gearbox is good and sharp, the steering is easy (powered of course) but has enough feel even for me, and pulls away nice and sharpish - always a shock for the people in the bigger cars at the lights! ;D

2005 Cadillac CTS, Slate Blue. His name is Oliver for good luck. I can only afford 1 car as well so he's my daily driver. A manual tranny was not a good option with my daily commute route. (I can do a nice hill start when I have to though!) He purrs when he's idling. He makes me smile every time I take a tight curve. I won't confess to speeding, but he does "move along nicely".

I drive which ever car is parked at the front of our drive. At the moment the cars are a Corsa, a Fusion and a Focus. We are soon selling two of the cars and getting a new Ford Fiesta - the one Jeremy drove with the commandos.

I'm only up to my fourth car! Tend to keep them til someone else writes them off or I move countries ;D I've had two beautiful Mini's (originals)....first one was a yellow Clubman called Sunshine Girl... ;D, another Mini, a red one...I can't remember the model , I think a Mini Morris... a Honda Jazz (same as Mr Wilman but it was an older model)...and I currently drive a Korean car I bought brand new in Australia and am loathe to name it but I've had it almost eight years and it still goes ;D ;D

I do the same thing too, Eclair. Most of the time, I end up having to sell mine when I move countries too. Here's a lists of my former cars. My current one is above, until it either becomes undriveable and unsalvageable, or until Husband has his way and we leave the country, which I really don't want to do. Blue 1985 Mercury Topaz saloon from 1988 to 1991 Red 1987 Nissan March estate from 1991 to 1994 Light blue 1995 Chevy Astra van from 1995 to 1999 Blue 1991 Nissan Prairy people mover from 2000 - 2003 Gold 1996 Vauxhall Vectra saloon from 2004 to 2006 Blue 1999 Vauxhall Vectra saloon (pictured above) from 2006 to present Yep, all rubbish cars, but I loved everyone of them.

Up until Christmas I had a Peugeot 406 saloon, 52 reg, which I loved (in spite of the TG jokes about Pugs!). Then hubby wrote it off one morning (black ice, back country roads, river or hedge, he chose the hedge, thankfully!) - we were both fine but my Pug was a write off. . It was an excuse to get a shiny new car though, so I'm now the proud owner of a silver Vauxhall Corsa 1.3 CDTi - like this one: I'm rather fond of it, and, needless to say, hubs doesn't get to drive it!! Is it admitting too much if I also say that on the day I got it, I decided to call it James? *scuttles off in fangirl shame*
