I have lots of collections, which, I suppose are also part of hobbies. Collections include: stilton cheese jars, preserve jars and mustard pots (over 60 of them.), paperweights ( decent ones, over 40,) fountain pens and fountain pen mending (over 300,) old Ladybird book (over 100,) Proper hobbies include: piano playing, listening to classical music (1650ish to 1850ish mostly - over 300 CD's of this period, and 100 of other periods.) I also enjoy gardening, writing poetry, attempting to write musical compositions (I am getting better at this,) cars and driving. The list goes on, but I am sure you must be getting bored by now.

You actually reminded me of one of my biggest loves, Eshalda - that I actually forgot to list *shame on me* Old children's books - mostly the 'Chalet School' and similar. I only completed my CS set a couple of years ago - and as there are 62 books in the whole set, you'll see why it took me almost 15 years to do it ;D My next thing is to get the whole CS series in unabridged hardback......I have one so far And I'm sure some of you will have seen me confess to railway geekery here before. I'm NOT a trainspotter - more like, I'm an ex trainspotter, as my interest lies with closed railways. I'm known for dragging TOH to unlikely parts of the countryside to take pictures of old bridges and platforms, and *ahem* possibly once we did trespass on private property so that I could get pictures of the old station buildings. He was lookout (for angry farmers) and I took a million pictures, many of which did have my finger over the lens photography not being my string point.

Aww, Daisy, trains are cool!! Did you love the steam train Jeremy was on in TG on Sunday? It was so gorgeous. It is a dream of mine to go on a steam train one day, even if it is just a short 5 minute journey, that would make me happy. Just to say, yes, I have been on one.

I was a little jealous of Jezza, it must be said ;D There's a steam railway near to me, that does 'driver experience' days, and I keep telling TOH that I want one for my next birthday. It'll be a cold day in hell before he pays out for it though and an even colder one before i can afford to splash out for myself, so I shall have to be content with having a rummage through their bookshop whenever I go there. But I have had a go in their signal box - that was much fun!

Daisy - you might like to know that the old Boston to Lincoln line is now mostly Route 1 of the National Cycle Network. A long portion of it runs alongside the River Witham and part of that is called the Water Rail Way.

CD storage is a problem. I have lots of racks and boxes, plus a cupboard. My collection is a mere drop in the ocean compared with my brotheri n laws. His house in Scotland has a room for his vynal, tape,C.D, mini disc collection, plus the house in Scarborough has another. His collection must run into the thousands.

I'm in a bit of a nosey mood today, and was wondering what everybody does when they're not either a) here or b) at work, wherever that may be. So, feed my nosey - what do you do with your free time? Well, I've had to give up my vase, porceline doll collecting because of money. My main hobbies are bird watching, butterfly watching, nature walks, admiring flowers all around, photography (which I've tried to turn into a business. So far, my father is my only customer. ), creative writing (which I'd like to get published but have a fear of rejection), listening to music of all sorts (the only music I choose not to listen to is modern sample techno dance, rap, or country/western), and watch movies. There are so many things I like doing but have so little time for or money for.

Working full time doesn't seem to give me much time for hobbies but I try to fit in the things that relax me. They include being on here, that includes researching anything that takes my fancy, reading , gardening, although that is becoming a chore with the time thing and practising 'Clair de lune' on the piano. I hear it played properly and realise that out of the six pages of it in my book I can still only play two proficiently! I collect Concorde memorabilia. Composing a poem for the DT is always fun.

Ooh, Concorde! I love Concorde....I have a few minor bits and pieces to do with it, and also many many photographs. I was practically parked outside Heathrow in the run up to the last flight.

I was working in the shopping centre in Weston-super Mare when Concorde flew in along the seafront on her last journey home to Filton and my co-worker wouldn't let me out to see her - I still dislike that woman grrrr! So, I never did get to see her fly. Everybody else piled outside to see her and the centre absolutely emptied!

As of yesterday, I've started working on one of mine that I'm hoping to make money with, since the other one I started at the beginning of the year isn't working the way I had hoped. The current one, I've already got the main meat, I just need to rework some of it and I just started on a third one that I probably won't continue until I get the first two the way I want them. They're all a work in progress.
