my hobby is split between several really. i still have my army tendances in me, so i love to tidy up and set things the way i want them, maybe a bit OCD but i like it. secondly... i also like to do a lot of classic car restoration, and going to shows taking photographs of them, nothing looks better in my view than a 1930's or 40's car really.

I would love to see photos of your scarfs, Eggduelkicks! My hobby? Uhm.. After I watched James May's Toy Stories this Christmas, I've had a period of making Airfix airplanes ;D I thought Airfix seemed interesting, and decided to give it a try. Now I'm addicted ;D It's a quite relaxing and creative hobby really, so I'm glad James showed it to me ;D So far, I've built a Spitfire PRXIX and a Hawker Typhoon 1b, and I just bought a Spitfire MkIa yesterday I think the MkIa looks just like the one James built in the series? I'm not sure though. My first spitfire But if I'm not here or not doing Airfix, I'm probably watching Top Gear on my computer, reading books, doing homework, out driving my car or I'm out with the horses

I would love to see photos of your scarfs, Eggduelkicks! i'm currently maybe 1/4 of the way through one modeled after the one he has with like 10 different colors in it. (tried to post a pic with this, but having some trouble figuring it out) it's taking forever because you have to switch yarn ball between each color. but it's looking really neat. definitely worth the struggle. pics will def come as i finish them

It's been interesting reading about everyones hobbies! I love to play the guitar (poorly) and sing (slghly better than my guitar playing but still poor). I have been part of a few bands, either as back up or lead singer on a few occasions. Nothing permanant, just filling in for others or helping out friends. I've only done it a few times in the last few years, it's a bit too hard with little kids at home to organise rehearsals etc..I do love to sing though, and I would love to get some proper lessons to improve.
I also love to scrapbook...my sister and I took this up a few years ago when we both started having children, and now we both love it! We actually made each other aprons to wear when we are scrapping, and have sold a few at crafty things...mine says, "Dirty Scrapper" on it. It's quite cute!
Apart from those things, I'm pretty flat out working full time and being a mum. I do love zumba and swimming, reading as much as I can, and writing. I've recently taken to writing a lot more, both academic stuff and creative work just for me. I find it quite theraputic! Too afraid to show anyone though!

My dearest hobby is probably music - listening to it mainly, singing as well. Love to go to small club gigs (although after I became a mum, there haven't been many chances for this), do not fancy stadium size concerts.
Then there's films - I try to make new additions to my movie collection every month.
I also knit a lot. Mainly socks, cause a) my feet are usually always cold, b) my son needs warm socks for his wellies and c) they're fast and easy to make while watching tv. I did finish one pullover for myself and 3 for my son this winter, though. Also made a bunch of mittens, slippers and hats for christmas presents and a pair or woolly pants for my son.
Depending on inspiration I also write stuff. Mainly sort of prose poetry.
Suppose baking is also a kind of a hobby. Don't care much about cooking, but baking is fun. I just received an order for a birthday cheesecake for tomorrow. And then my son said he wants a Toothless the dragon cake for easter (from "How To Train Your Dragon" movie). Sigh. Better get some plasticine to practice first ;D. I have made a couple of train cakes, Lightning McQueen and Mater from the Cars, frogs etc. but never dragons yet. Feel free to give me ideas on that one. Good thing I have 3 weeks to plan for it.

I'm a geek... and a tomboy. From time-to-time I collect dragon statues and figurines, I always like dragons... Music wise, my tastes are... not what you'd expect, I don't care for any music from 'Crap Factor' and 'Pop Idle'. And I buy albums/singles either on CD or vinyl. Instruments: I have a drumkit (but I can't play it very well) and a electric guitar. I also like to paint, draw and read. I'm also into something called steampunk and my favourite colour is black. I don't know why that is, I just started liking it when I was a teenager. ;D

britishsteamwave: I'm a tomboy too sometimes cuz I love sports and working on cars, but I'm a girl when it comes to clothes and shoes, and perfume, and jewelry....lol.....and James I collect rocks [gemstones, quartz, iron rocks from a quarry north of me called "ringing rocks"] I would have loved to have been a geologist. I also collect figurines of angels, turtles, frogs, bunnies, and elephants [the last being a protector symbol, and I just love elephants cuz they're so majestic and family-oriented]. Music wise, I'm a classic rock and blues freak, but I love all kinds of music....classical, jazz, pop, Peanuts music (love the music for a Charlie Brown Christmas) and anything that makes my body move. Instruments: I collect those too. I have 2 guitars (acoustic and Strat), a piano, keyboard, 2 violins, a harmonica - and I can play all of them.....but I'm better at the geetar. I hope to be surrounded by musical instruments in my retirement years. My favorite colors are earthtones. I used to paint. I have a few paintings screaming at me to finish. My new hobby is: I write stories and music for animations that I create, which I've been compiling to put on You Tube. I love doing my own voice-over work. I purchased a high-end microphone and created a sound studio in one of my bedrooms. I hope someday to turn this into a living. I used to be in advertising. I started out freelancing and worked my way into a good salary on my own for 17 years. But I had to stop when my dad got sick. I needed to take care of him and my career changed cuz I still have to work. I used my writing skills to get into the medical industry, landed a night shift job that allowed me to take care of my dad during the day. Then unfortunately I got turned into a med-tech cuz my employer found I was good at science. After my dad died I stayed on, luckily got back on day shift, (no one should work night shift, it's biologically unnatural and bad for anyone who does it long term), but I really don't like being a med-tech. I'm a creature of creativity. And it's hard to get back into a industry after you've left it for so long. No one understands that I was simply trying to take care of a life event. They just see that I switched from advertising to med-tech. So I'm hoping I can steer my career back there someday with my new hobby. But I have to admit I like wearing scrubs all day, they're as comfortable as PJs, which I did have the occassion to work in when I was self-employed

Ooh, a strat(ocaster)? Lovely. I only have an Onyx guitar, I don't know if anyone has heard of them but it's pretty much a Gibson Les Paul clone (well my one is). ;D

I think I posted in here before but I don't remember. One of my hobbies, which I have not indulged in since about November, due to my leg, is target shooting. I have a .357 Smith and Wesson. I usually shoot 38s with it (they're cheaper). I plan on going to the range tomorrow. Tuesdays are "Ladies Day" and ladies get to shoot for an hour for $1 as opposed to $12 . I know, I know, I'm not really a lady (just see some of my posts in the NC ;D) but they don't know that thank goodness!

I collect cars, I currently have 9 cars with OH. Also I race, do agility and obedience with my 4 dogs. Its not really a hobby but I am spending quite a lot of time doing it - attempting to make the house and garden look "normal". OH lived there by himself for 15 years and could see no problems with the green carpets/bathrooms and "nature garden"effect. I would like to be crafty/arty but I dont really get the time sadly.

Hmm, well, I like cycling, walking, eating ;D, gazing at photo's of, well, you know who, learning (geography, history, psychology), philosophy, birdwatching, weapons, climbing trees, writing, playing boardgames, crocheting, watching programmes on Discovery Channel, National Geographic and Animal Planet. I used to draw and paint, but even though people like it, I stopped doing it, because, well, I just didn't like doing it.

I like to crochet, I've done baby blankets for my girls, my grand-kids, and for friends. And last winter I crochet myself a version of the 4th Doctor's scarf. Guess who I'm dressing up as this Halloween. ;D

Oh that's nice, SLfriend! I like crocheting as well!! Like the scarf! I bet you do great stuff too. The best I can do is small blankets, scarfs, and place mats ...And even then I can't do a straight line that well.

Well, at this moment I can only crochet hats and scarfs ;D I only crochet during wintertime, which is maybe a bit weird, but oh well. Grizabella, I one day hope I can be as good as knitting as you are, for I also would love to make Christmas presents myself I've got a new hobby by the way: I've always been fascinated by the universe. A year or so back I was really staring at the sky and saw something that was flying, constantely. It had (for when you're standing on this planet) he same size as a star, but was going slower than a falling star, yet faster than a plane and it didn't have lights, it really looked like a star. My brother and I looked at a programme on my brother's iPod a couple of days back. They were lancing a satelite. My brother knows a bit more about them and told me how many there are around the earth. So I asked him if it's possible that we can see those satelites at night and he said yes. The day before yesterday I saw a flying object again. This one was bigger and brighter. I asked my brother to come down and he'd never seen it before as well. He ran upstairs to his iPod on which he'd download an app on which you can see where which satelite is. And guess what: it was the ISS. We kept looking on the app where it was all night. It was back in about 90 minutes, though the course changed a bit every time.

You're far too young to remember, Nat, but back in the early Cretacious period of 1976, we had an exceptionally long, dry summer. The atmosphere was so clear of cloud that you could see loads of space debris moving across the sky just as you describe. Back then, there were hardly any satellites.
