Martin Archer filming for "James May's Things You Need To Know" Martin Archer was filming for the new series of "James May's Things You Need To Know" last week. Discussing subject matter on physics and motion the feature will air later this year. Also look out for Martin's regular appearances on the major news channels discussing space physics.representtalent.com/news/martin-archer-filming-james-mays-things-you-need-know

Was just going to switch off and go to bed (yes, late tonight) when I realised no-one has said anything about the first episode earlier. Surely not everyone's on twitter or facebook?
For what it's worth I enjoyed it. My Physics isn't good (only just scraped O level and that was a minor miracle) and I struggled with some of the concepts but was mightily entertained by the graphics and a little enlightened by James' explanations - though not his fault! My brain was pedaling hard to keep up. Some people say they are learning from this programme; some feel their intelligence is offended. I think it balances between the two. I look forward to the other two episodes.
Of course it didn't help that most of tonight's episode's was accompanied by the mother of all thunderstorms.

I did watch, and thought it was quite amusing, but there's no point even pretending to myself that I understand physics, especially the quantam stuff. I didn't even manage to get as far as O Level - had no idea why I was even in the physics lab.
Chemistry and biology made a lot more sense, but I was dangerous with flammable substances and got upset at having to disect previously live animals.
Education wasted on the young, etc..

I started to watch it but the virus which has invaded my body took hold and I had to go to bed. I will watch it today. The bit I did see I really liked - the graphics are fabulous (very Monty Python!)

A lot better than the first series, enjoyed watching it, but imho nowhere near as good as Big Ideas and 20thCentury. I really hope the Beeb will let him do a proper science series again soon. Here's a torrent: www.thebox.bz/details.php?id=204877

Getting a 404 on that, lindenchase (Good to 'see' you again, by the way!)
I agree, it's an entertaining programme, but not a patch on the others mentioned. He's clearly a narrator on this, albeit a heavily involved one. By the way, does anyone have any idea who writes the script? I can't find any reference anywhere. He needs to be given his head to develop his own ideas in his own style again. He keeps mentioning the possibility of programmes on music, history etc; let's hope there's something in the offing.
Actually, I'm still trying to find a way of downloading stuff. Since there was that flurry of shutting down I've not known where to go. Don't even know what a torrent is (ignoramus). Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated. PMs would be welcomed.
And of course, I haven't said a word......

Getting a 404 on that, lindenchase I'm afraid The Box is members only, so you will have to join them first via www.thebox.bz. If you don't like torrents, you could also use FTP, just check the videos on offer over on Final Gear.

Usually there are different versions for different countries so like £ changed to dollars for America etc, Last season it was on discovery canada as well as a BBC Worldwide version of the show with James. Trying to find out more about this year. The first episode was heavy with physics and how could you not with Einstein, but I always took the show as small facts that are useful in life rather than in the world of science like the one just posted 'When Is It Good To Swear? www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtPCDW8kaq0

I also think it was a big improvement from the last series, but still nowhere near some of the other stuff he's done. Last series I watched only because of James. This last programme I might have watched even if he was not involved. But I doubt I will want to watch it again anytime soon.

I saw it on Graboid last night and thought it was quite entertaining. I like the cartoonish way it is presented especially since I'm not into physics.
